hehe Aren't TOTO Japanese toilets? :P I like the commericials... But, what I wanted to know, what's the difference between Japanese toilets and American ones?😌 😊 :p

Think of them like a car wash.

American toilets are like when you wash your car in the driveway yourself. Japanese toilets are like the car wash where they wash, wax, undercarriage rinse, vacume, wash the inside windows and scent the carpet with a nice smell and blow and hand towel dry; soooo much better!!

Actually, a Japanese Toilet is more like a urinal laying sideways on the ground - no seat and used in the squatting position. The Toto device to which you refer I believe is known as a Washlet (or something like that). It's a device that attaches to a Western-style toilet that converts it into something along the lines of a bidet. A bit disconcerting at first use, but then you realize it's actually a pretty darn good idea. Just be sure you're sitting down when you hit the button. LOL.

Toto is a brand name of toilets. It is not the toilet itself.

Japan is famous for 2 types of toilets. Well, famous in the sense that most westerners rarely get to experience them until they come here.

the squat type

the fancified one with controls like the captain's seat on the starship Enterprise (although I wonder why Kirk was shouting so much on that seat, if it felt so good)

Do a simple Internet search if you want more info.

Toto is a brand name of toilets.

When I first saw the title of this thread, I thought people were talking about the last Gamera movie in which Gamera, as a hatchling, was named "Toto" by the little boy who found him.

Isn't Washlet another brand name? I saw a display of them at the last Japan Expo in Los Angeles.

TOTO do more than just toilets if I remember correctly my entire bathroom in my hotel was TOTO. Want to blast yourself off the toilet change the water pressure to full and hit bidet

I have a toto... at the ripe old age of 32, it was one of my most prized possessions.

Somehow missed this thread. Yeah, I'd agree, these are most precisely not Japanese toilets, but rather options added western toilets.

I have a Hitachi--it inspires the next--which makes sense: as the sun rises (hi=日; tachi=立) it's the first place to go visit...is it not?

What??!! A ripe OLD age of 32?!! Life begins at forty...or for Uncle Frank, that was 50...so you're still a spring rooster there GaijinPunch san !! Live it up !!

Anyone remember the Apricot washer by TOTO? It had a hilarious advertisement.
