The operator announced Wednesday that by March 2028, shinkansen bullet trains linking Tokyo with Western Japan will feature semiprivate booths with luxurious seating. Anticipating increased demand from international tourists and business travellers, Central Japan Railway Co. plans to replace 20 of the 68 seats in each first-class car on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line with six high-end seats. These booths will include lockable doors, and the seats can be rotated to allow face-to-face conversations.
