Three female lions at Tama Zoological Park have died within days of each other after suffering dehydration and multiple organ failure, with heatstroke believed to be the likely cause. The lions, Mugi, Ichigo and Luena, were among the zoo's 16 lions. Another 10 have shown signs of heat stress, including loss of appetite and reduced activity. The zoo said it would step up measures to protect its animals as Japan continues to endure extreme summer temperatures.
