Thief!!!

Here's my theory: Now a days people will do anything. From stealing shoes to buying air on eBay. People are weird. I mean who would steal crappy worn out shoes? Perhaps they are very poor and will take anything that may have some type of good use to them. I once had a pair of Basketball shoes stolen right out of my gym locker. They were NEW! and Allen Iversons. I was ticked off. But, I guess now I have a good reason to stink up my pair of shoes, so no one will want to steal them!

Good luck with your shoes! Hope you find that bastard!

I appreciate your kind thoughts, but am glad to say that even as low as my faith in my fellow man has sunk, it still remains higher than yours.

I believe it was just a simple matter of the staff from the assisted living facility having his hands full getting a very energetic mentally challenged young man ready to leave the pool. Very likely he didn't notice what shoes the guy had and grabbed a pair nearby thinking them to be the right ones. The young man was so exuberant that they probably took his trouble walking in my oversized shoes as part of his natural clumsiness/bounciness.

Yes, I do have very little faith in man, but I still have that remaining faith. (when it comes to property). I guess you can't blame me for living in an area where people just don't seem to care about others personal belongings, and being a victim of it.

Did that actually happen or are you just playing devils Advocate?
If that's your theory, then good luck with it, and good luck with everything else.

I find it to be the only plausible explanation. Do you see a problem with it?

No, I see no problem with it. It makes sense, but I was just wondering if you were just making up scenarios to help you cope with it? to make you feel better?

Really, though, I wasn't there and I don't know the people at that pool, or it's surroundings. So I guess whatever you say would be the best scenario. Again, Good Luck!

Not at all.

There really was a mentally/developmentally challenged young man there accompanied by a member of the staff at the home where he lives (identifiable by a special swim cap with the word 窶「t窶堋ォ窶弸窶堋「 on it).

He was quite exuberantly energetic in the pool and I can imagine that getting him changed back into street clothes for the return was quite a task for staffer, that he inadvertently picked up the wrong shoes, and that the young man's bounciness led to no one noticing that he was having trouble walking in shoes at least two sizes too big for him.

The shoes, while only 29cm, are practically clown-shoe large for the majority of Japanese males. Most shoe stores only carry in stock shoes up to 27.5cm. The pool was very lightly attended that day and the chances that somebody needing a pair of 29s intentionally made off with them is close to zero.

Maybe someone at the pool was jealous of your "gaijin-ness" or physique and decided to give you a little crap by taking your shoes.

Seriously, I know shoes in our size are hard to come by, I hope they make their way back to where you are soon.

Hell maybe they are on display at the local gas station as imitations of Giant Babba's shoes! (That happened once where I live and the people at the gas station actually tried to give me his shoes because I was the "only" one that even came close to fitting them.😲 )

Anyone jealous of my physique is more deserving of pity than scorn. I would give such a person my shoes gladly and walk home through broken glass.

I have to give you credit........at least you can laugh at yourself.
Cheers Mike, if you ever get to Okinawa look me up the first beer is on me!

So can you get a hold of the challenged young mans helper and see if your theory is correct? I think that it is a very good theory and if you ask, you may receive.

There's no point to it now. It would only cause embarassment and I was about ready to toss those shoes anyway.

My size is 27.5
I need a 28.5 which is hard to find!

I wear a size 34cm shoe.
Wooow!!! so BIG!!!! *imagining*
Can you guys find rental shoes that fit you when you go bowling or ice-skating in Japan? Well, I'd better behave myself here on this site so that I won't get 30cm mammoth kicks on my face.😊

I went swimming after work today. After a couple of hours in the pool and sauna, I changed clothes and got ready to go home.
That's when I noticed my shoes were gone.
Gone.
Gee Oh En Ee.
Gone.
Those were your shoes?! heh oops ^_^
--edit
Wait, I just went online at a shoe size converter... and my size in US is 12 - does that really mean I have a size 30cm shoe in Japan like it says?!?!

Yes, you probably wear about a size 30 in Japan. Good luck finding any.

(And I think we could do without the sig that makes light of racially motivated murder).
