Been about 4 weeks since I was laid up with a bad back; sure misssed you all!! I've got many more weeks of recovery ahead to get back to my good ol abnormal self. I'll try to get back for an hour or so a day from now on; can't sit at the PC for too long yet.
My heartfelt thanks to all those who expressed concern for my well being. Hope to talk with you all in the future, bye for now.

Wow! Bad back, eh? I know how that feels....
I pulled my back muscle out of whack once in Japan, too....I couldn't sit down without pain, and once I sat down, I had a hard time getting back up again...so I couldn't sit on the trains....
Then one day, when I got on a particularly crowded Toyoko line headed for Shibuya, I got scrunched up real tight against the rest of the crowd on the train, snapping my back waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back, and when I finally managed to get off the train at my stop, pushing people out of the way (as if there is any other way when you're stuck in the middle of the car), I realized to my surprise that the compact nature of the crowded train did some chiropractic trick and my back was fine again

Hope you get better soon, Frank....

I now have to find a job again, since my contract ended and I'm joining the 3400 other techies that have recently joined the unemployment line If you don't hear from me for long periods of time, you'll know I'm out job hunting again in the mushroom forest

Funny how age affects your preception on things. In my younger days , 4 weeks in bed in a drugged stupor might have seemed pretty cool; not so much fun at my age now.I have about 4 more weeks of taking it easy at home before the doctor gives me an OK to resume my life. He did come in the morning after surgery and tell me I should start thinking about a new job free from lifting anything over 10 pounds? I'm still contemplating what kind of job that might be, if such a thing exists. Oh well, several more weeks to think about that. I've reached the restless stage where I can't stay in bed, but sitting and standing tire me out much too soon and back to bed I go. I'll try to check in each day and see what's up in the "FORUM" world. As I regain my staimina, I hope to spend more time on-line. Thanks again for your good thoughts!
