For me it is kawaii on Japanese but not on western people, I would never do it.

Bunny ears? Bunny ears?! When I was young, putting two fingers behind someones head meant horns, not bunny ears. ("I grow old, I grow old...", but I shall not wear my trousers rolled)
Anyway, I probably haven't done a peace sign since the early 1970s.
Returning to something Kinsao said, regarding the two fingers with the back of one's hand showing, there is (or at least was) a gesture in the Philippines that meant the same thing. It is a little more difficult to do, but rather more graphic.

I agree that it is to mean peace, as such i see no problem with anyone of any age, gender, nationality etc.. using it. I myself have never thought to but i wouldn't be apposed to it.

The 'V' sign comes not for peace. It has taken that form on over the last hundred years, but it had a different meaning before that.
It was originally a British way of annoying the french. For some reason, some french people had their index and middle fingers cut off, and the v sign represented the phrase:
HA HA I CAN FIRE A LONGBOW BECAUSE I STILL HAVE MY SHOOTING FINGERS
It was used because obviously most Britons couldn't speak french and most french couldn't speak English.
Regardless, I don't use it (I did once or twice when I was young) because I see no reason to do so.
