Hey! I've only just finished Genki 2, so I can't really read/listen to native material yet. However, something I learned in the last chapters of that textbook bothers me a little bit. How often is the affective passive used? It may have different names, so I'll provide an example:
私は父に死なれました。
I was died by my father? This seems like such a bizarre concept to me. Do Japanese people even see this as passive voice? Or do they simply use it when describing actions by other people which have affected them in a negative way?
Thanks!
