The Meaning of Life

What do you think is the meaning of life? I mean... when you die one of 2 things happens:

1) If God exists then when you die you will go to Heaven (which is a place infinitely better than Earth, says the Bible). But if when you die you go to Heaven, which is way better than Earth, then... what the hell are we doing wasting our time living!?! Shouldn't we all just hurry up and die so that we can get to that better place sooner?!? Why should we continue living to amuse a God that thinks he is better than everyone?

2) If God doesn't exist then that means that after we die we become nothing more than dust (no heaven, no resurrection, no nothing). That would mean that life is a lie. That we live for nothing. That there is no ultimate reward for wasting around 80 years living on this lousy planet. That moral values are really a farce, as there is really no right or wrong.

Either way you put it it comes down to this: life is worthless. Whether there is or there isn't a God it changes nothing. Life is meaningless after all is said and done. Perhaps it would be better if World War III started so that the Earth gets destroyed with bio-weapons.

Please let me know your opinion on this matter.

In my oppinion, wondering about the meaning of life, is stupid. You shouldn't go around thinking about such a thing. The human race appered because the nature evolved, that's all. It's a waste of time to wonder about the meaning of life. People should enjoy their life instead of wondering why we are here....Enjoy life! Life is to short!

Your life decides whether you actually go to Heaven or not. Suicide is one of the surest ways to not go to Heaven.

I also think that even if one does not believe in a god, gods, goddesses or whatnot, that life should still hold purpose. You're here, you have life, enjoy it and help others enjoy it.

You also mention there being no right and wrong. That is false, there are many rights and many wrongs. Every person holds, in his or her mind, a set of values as to what they see is right and what they see is wrong. Right and wrong may only be points of view, but they mean a great deal to many people.

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle--father? Look's like the good ole 'Serious Discussion' is back again--or are we to make light of this OP? Are we to refrain from more serious than not discussion in the 'Chit-Chat and misc.' area? Or, actually since such is miscellaneous when placed beside Japan-related matters, is it properly in line with the title under which it stands? Hummm. . . that is the question !!

I totally agree that 'life' is not to be weighed against concepts of what beyond life may or may not be--since no one really can claim to have the final and absolute word on the matter.

I would posit that the meaning of life is equivalent to the purpose of life, and then state the title of my abstract as: LIFE--the true meaning to being alive.

Life is much, much more than the individual, far greater a sphere and realm than the sub-structures within it, yet is made all the greater, more beautiful and meaningful by each and every of the sub-structures within it. As though it were the god of all paradoxes. For that reason, while every non-recurring, single instance of life is of the greatest of all heretofore known things, the sphere/realm of life is also, ungrammatically, the greatest of all heretofore known things.

That is what I have come to see, and altough I cannot so clearly outright prove it, I frame it in a positive, non-subjunctive voice due to the evidence which supports such theory.

This above intro, is in no way intended to belittle the OP, but just to point out some other matters which have been before us in the past. Thank you for your understanding.

Ok they are telling me I need to tell you this here, this is it! This is the spot! Are you ready?! Ooooooo no H, they said I can't use an H in that, ok here it is, get this:


You know how people talk about "aliens" and "UFOs" , well this is the truth. What people consider to be "aliens" are really not. They aren't from another planet, no solar system milky way, nothing like that. What you'd consider an "alien" is really just the future us, the evolution of us, however you want to phrase it. Now what people consider "UFOs" aren't really , well ok they are unidentified sure, but really what they are are time machines. The evolved us created these sort of time machines to come back to our present day and what you'd consider "alien abductions" (are really and I'm not lying) just the future us picking us up to change a certain someone from doing something, even if it's the littlest thing because whatever that person did , let's say um, they didn't wash their hands after they used the bathroom and then they went grocery shopping, as an example, the person doing that, (not washing their hands because they were in a rush to the store,) changed the evolution us (or let's call us in the future 'Evus') , the Evus's present day in a bad way. Now when you hear people talking about God they are talking about the Evus, they are truely watching over us and not neccesarily for our sake but rather for the sake of mankind's future. They aren't in the sky but they will be if they are needing to change something.

Now this all goes with me going to Japan, I was what people call "abducted by aliens" when I was young and I didn't understand why. Ask anyone in my family, especially my mother, when I was around the age of 10 I pushed my two clothes dressers away from the wall and slept behind them for a month until the Evus found me. Sometime around then they explained to me that they were doing what they were doing because they needed me to help them and I'll never forget the feeling of their apologies each time they took me. I even remember shouting at them to "take me to Japan!" and they gave me this feeling that that's not why they were doing what they were doing and they explained all of this to me.

Death isn't created by the Evus, the Evus don't kill or do anything like that, it's natural but if someone's death shouldn't happen then the Evus fix it and that's what people in the real world call "Miracles".

We live for ourselfs. Not for the God, for Heaven or anything else. We live for our dreams, for something we want to do in our lives. And there is an reward at the end. You will know that you changed something in the lives of the ones you love, that you helped someone, that you've done something good. That's the best feeling you can get before you die and the biggest reward.
