Well, I didn't have high expectations for this band based on both the name and appearance, but since so many people seemed to like their music I decided to give it a shot. In essence they are a novelty band (then again Visual Kei in itself could be described that way also). Their sound isn't very unique and the structure of their songs are very simple. It just sounds like they are ripping off numerous other artists. I know many of you may disagree, but perhaps you aren't informed in this area/genre.
For the skeptics I will provide an example...In the early 80's a British musician, Frank Tovey, created music under the name Fad Gadget. Many of his songs had a sort of "circus" sound to them. He even dressed as a clown sometimes. I am always shocked by the amount of people who have never even heard of him before, because he was such an influential artist. Depeche Mode, Skinny Puppy, and Nine Inch Nails (to name a few) were influenced by him. I have often wondered if many Jrock acts were inspired by his on-stage antics. Especially Kyo (he often painted/covered himself in various substances). I'll attach some photos, so you can see the similarities for yourself.
