It wasn't just Samurai battle but a ninja and associated irregulars battle which is what swung the battle for Ieyasu- he had the best gun shooters in the whole country and turned loyalist forces.

I don't know enough about ninjas and irregulars at Sekigahara, but I always thought the traitors in the ranks of the Western army decided Mitsunari's fate.

Do you know how they turned the allies into traitors- ninjas passing on character weaknesses etc and their handlers giving back the deal information? No formal Samurai method of the enemy.
