Hello, native English speakers,
I think (a) can be used. But how about (b)? I don't think I've heard it before.
(a) The apple tasted better than it looked.
(b) The apple tasted better than its look(s).

They are both correct. Just a small grammar correction. (b) The apple tasted better than it looks.
