Where can someone learn how to swim in Okinawa ? This probably seems like an odd question considering where I'm at, but I swim like a rock. Can anyone offer up any suggestions?
I took lessons for 7 years as a kid with no luck. Then someone gave me a good set of flippers and a good diving mask and I felt like aquaman. After a few weeks of gaining confidence with the swim aids I found I could swim without them. I always hated water in my face and the mask solved that. Had weak leg muscles and the flippers helped there. Hopefully someone will give you a "where to go " answer.
Where in Okinawa are you? There were several very nice beaches with calm water that I visited while I was there. I'm afraid I don't know about the pools or training centers there, though.
I'm not aware of any in the Yomitan area. There is one in Urasoe (near Foster). They also give lessons on the bases. I lived in Yomitan for 3 years and can't remember seeing a school there.
