The Sumida River Fireworks Festival, a long-running summer tradition in Tokyo's historic downtown, was held across Taito and Sumida wards on 26 July. Around 20,000 fireworks lit up the night sky after a day of intense heat. The festival's organising committee said about 920,000 people turned out for the event.
