It's a cake!

On 1st August, Okashi no Buttiku Mon Pactole, a confectionary shop with a penchant for the peculiar in Mie Prefecture, unveiled a limited-edition "kaisen-don" cake. This eight-layered dessert is a playful deception, with strawberry jelly masquerading as luxurious "otoro" tuna and mandarin oranges mimicking the appearance of sea urchins. Pâtissier Sugimoto Masahiro from the Higashitawara district shop in Nabari chuckled as he said the cake would surely confuse people. The confectionery team was confident their creation would deliver a delightful shock to taste buds. The illusion extends beyond the top layer. What appears to be squid sashimi is milk jelly, scallops are cleverly disguised as pears, and fatty salmon with roe is transformed into orange jelly.

They also offer tonkatsu and unagi cakes.
