Improved Forecasting of Typhoons and Heavy Rain Expected with "GOSAT-GW" — Transition to H3 Rocket Ahead
In the early hours of June 29, the 50th H2A rocket was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, marking a successful mission.
The H2A No. 50 lifted off at 1:33:03 a.m. on June 29 from the Tanegashima Space Center in Minamitane, Kagoshima.
The rocket followed a stable flight path, and about 16 minutes after liftoff, it successfully deployed its onboard satellite, GOSAT-GW, into the planned orbit.
GOSAT-GW is expected to contribute to improving the accuracy of typhoon and heavy rainfall forecasts, as well as to enhancing the understanding of climate change.
First launched in 2001, the H2A rocket concluded its final mission with this launch. From now on, Japan's mainline rocket program will transition to the H3 rocket.
