He came over to England for the sole purpose of a 200mph+ run on the M1. I have a video of this, and the police in pursuit. Needless to say, he was busted for this, understandable though!

It couldn't be, but there was a guy from Japan who drove a Lamborghini Countach from DC to Petersburg, VA along I-95 who broke the 150mph+ mark in the middle Eighties. I say "150mph+" because the official story was that the radar units pegged-out at that speed (nahhhh, I don't believe it either!).

Rumor control said that the guy had a diplomatic passport and they could not take him into custody for very long, but they had him "recalled" and tried to keep his wheel (hell, I would try too! It's a Lamborghini!)

I used to go out to Diakouku Futo on Saturdays after midnight. Its a rest area under the Yokohama Bay Bridge, and hang out late at night on the weekends. Everyone goes to show off their cars and check out all the others. It's a meeting point before you hit the streets basicaly. Top Secret usualy brings some cars, and some other car shops bring theirs too. Theres all different cliques there. Drifters, dragers, parra parra, bassers. And every car imaginable. Anything from the normal Skylines, Supra's, Silvias, RX-7's, to BMW's, Aristo's and Glorias, AE86's. Camaro's NSX. All you can imagine. Then around 2 or so we all go out to Nambu with all the cars to drag. (the drifters go to wherever it is they drift at.) Drag guys don't really like drifters because they bring out the police. High profile accidents that kill people give all racers a bad names because the drifting tends to make you loose control. It's hard to loose control in a straight line, but Drag racers get a bad rap too. We close off a nice newly paved straight street, and do 1/4 mile drags for a few hours or as long as the cops allow. If they come out, they usualy just flash their lights to let you know you have to stop. So we all go to a Gas station or other public area until they go away, and start up again. It continues till around 4 or 5 then we go home to do it again the next week. I used to drive a Silvia. I sold it and moved stateside, and my bud who I sold it to wrecked it a month later. I just moved back here and now I have a GTS25T type M. It's still got the stock turbine on it, but that's about all. I'm in process of tuning it.

Ryan nailed this one as far as Yokohama goes. I'm sure its not much different in Osaka or Fukuoka or anywhere else in Japan.

Well, more auto-voyeur. Speaking of street racing, anyone involved in the scene in Tokyo interested in acting the tour guide?

I'll be visiting Japan for the first time on a side trip on business in Sydney, Australia. As a car nut I'd like to see something of the scene in Tokyo and maybe do some photography and writing.

Would appreciate any other tips/suggestions.
