Hello everyone

I have a quick questions about sponsors when it comes to Working Holiday Visas. I'd just like to know how easy, or hard, it's going to be for me to find a sponsor to exted my WHV. Through word of mouth I've heard that it's both extreemly easy and terribly hard. So any clarification would be much appreciated. :-) Thanks.

to extend? Talk to your current employer and ask them to do it, its not that hard. Where are you from as well?

Don't think you need a sponsor for a working holiday visa, you do need one to get a work visa.

I mean to extend the visa. The ones my friends just got are only for 6 months so they're going to need to find a sponsor to stay a year.

Well if they are working I don't see why their current employer can't be their sponsor, that's usually how it's done. People I know just got their sponsors from the companies they were working for, but I can imagine it being much more difficult if they don't have jobs.

You don't need a sponsor!

Citizen you do not need a sponsor to extend your WHV for another six months after your first 6 months are up, read below I got this info from the Japanese consulate general in Toronto website.

"Period of Stay
A period of stay of up to six months can be initially granted at the port of entry. This may be extended up to another six months by the Immigration Authorities in Japan."

make sure you go to the immigration authorities to extend your visa atleast 2 months before your first six months on your visa is about to expire. I didn't need a sponsor to get my visa extended for another 6 months, I just came back from doing a 1yr WHV. Canadians can do a WHV for up to a year, and then after that if you want to work legally in Japan you have to get your employer to sponsor you. but please contact a Japanese consulate in your city and they will give you more info on extending your visa.

wow, that's great information! Citizen, that's so great that you're going to Japan, I wish I were you! 🙂
