Crime Spaniard busted at Kansai Airport with 8,900 MDMA pills

A 23-year-old Spanish man was arrested at Kansai International Airport in Osaka Prefecture for allegedly smuggling a large quantity of MDMA. The drugs, valued at approximately $349,000, were concealed in his suitcase and detected by a strong glue smell. This is the second-largest MDMA seizure at the airport in the past five years.

The man is accused of smuggling 4.2 kilograms of the synthetic drug MDMA, with a street value of approximately 53.83 million yen (roughly $349,000), by plane from Paris on Oct. 6. The police station has not revealed whether he has admitted to the allegations. According to the customs branch, MDMA was hidden in the bottom of a suitcase and covered with a board. Some of the drug was reportedly placed in the back pad of a backpack that was sewn up. Upon opening the suitcase, an officer became suspicious after noticing the smell of perfume and the adhesive used to cover the drug with a board. The officer inspected it with a device and found the MDMA.
