Since This Is my first Post...

Hi, (Konnichi wa... Oh Wait, Don't you have to Say it a different way the First Time?) My Name's Michael, I'm Half Asian (Phillipino) and Have French Canada (Was in French Emersion till last Year, I just Didn't Care much About Learning it) K, I've Always been Into Japan (started with Anime, Then Manga, Now Culture, ya) And kinda wantted to move to Japan, but That would Never Happen, So I didn't even Try. Got Depressed, started Up with Video Games. Then This Year, I was talking to my Social Teacher, And she told me that when she had just finnished Collage, She Went to Australia to visit Someone, and she Found a Ad in the Papers, to teach English in Japan. She took it, learned Japanese while there, She said it was a great Expiriance. I thought that Was Lucky of her, then My Mom told me that She had to go see off a Friend, because he was going to Japan to Teach English too. Then Someone Else I knew did this too. It Kinda gave me the Sense of Mind that I could do this to, Because I also Wantted to become A teacher. I asked My Mom I she could by me some materials, she said only if my grades inprove, they did! low 50s to mid 80s and up! This gave me some Confidence, I started getting Along with people Better, started working out, and so on. It got me out of a depression ^_^. So My Mom bought "Easy Japanese" (Useful, but It dosen't get to the Point) a Japanese to English Dictionairy (ONLY! Not the Other Way Arround! Very Hard to Use!) And I started Studying... Nothing! 3 Months, nothing Stuck... Started to Give up Hope, Then I say something outside of the Bridges Office, "Foreign Exchange Program". I thought, OF COURSE! It would stick if I heard it arround me (very Naive). The cost... 10 thousand Canadian (About 8 Thousand US). So Now I'm getting a job and Saving Money (Collage is Paid for In Yellowknife, if you come back to work for a year, so that's already covered! ^_^) And That's Where I am now, I got till March 2006 to Save up the Money (10 bucks an hour, Is the Minimun Wage in the NWT, I'll get there. 1000 hours of work to do, one year, it'll work.) I've gotta Keep My Grades up, and exercise, to be able to go... This Is Kinda Becoming my Life... Kinda Wierd, but It's gonna Be worth It... I hope...

Wow, Sounds Like A Plan Kimil !!

sounds like you're doing everything right! You've come a long way it the right direction, good for you. If the teaching idea changes, you might see if the Canadian military has any bases in Japan or Okinowa. I got to live in Japan for 2 years by joining the US Navy. Anyway, best of luck on your dream. I hope you stay around and enjoy the Forum.

There's nothing wrong with being obsessive about something.

We only live once, might as well devote our lives to what we really want.

Just one thought;
If you're gonna teach English in Japan... you seriously need to study your own language.

mistakes like "Wantted", "finnished", "Found a Ad" and "inprove" really shouldn't be taught to the Japanese >_< they seem to have a hard enough time learning the language as it is.

and welcome to the fora!

Konnichiwa! 🙂

"Live your passion but be reasonable" :-) Japanese is fun to learn. It's not easy but if you have the determination, nothing can stop you from achieving your dream.

Enjoy your stay here.

Ganbatte kudasai.
