It should be pointed out this is the book by A.L.Sadler, not the book and movie by James Clavell.

Indeed, the full title of this book is "Shogun: the Life of Tokugawa Iieyasu". Perhaps I should add another review item for Clavell's "Shogun". Clavell's book and the movie starring Richard Chamberlain and Mifune Toshiro certainly had an immense impact on me!
