I am an English speaker living in the United States. My (ex) Japanese wife is from Hiroshima. We met in California in 1982, married and had a son in 1983. She returned to Hiroshima in 1984. We divorced in 1986. She married a Japanese man, and he adopted (according to my ex-wife, my son). My son visited me for the summer in 1992. He had a U.S. passport when he left the U.S. and in 1992, he had a Japanese passport. His U.S. passport was Jonathon Toshiyiki Kawamoto Roll (his birth name), and his Japanese passport was Toshiyuki Ozaki. No contact since he returned to Japan in 1992. Found my ex on Facebook (Sachie Ozaki Kawamoto). Contacted her, and she replied that our son lives in Osaka, is married, and has a son. And that I should contact him but never gave me an address and does not return my messages. That was several years ago. My son will be 40 in August, and I wanted to try and find him as I still have his baby pictures and other things that I would like to give him. I am 65 years old, and I have listed him to receive part of my estate if he can be located.
I understand that he may not want to communicate with me, but I want to let him know that I would like to contact him.
