I have been looking into getting a job in Okinawa, Naha. One of the current workers said that riding the company scooter was his biggest concern. I have 0 experience in riding anything like this, other than a bike... I have driven a car for more than 10 years...just wondering is it that difficult to get the hang of?

Have you ever ridden anything at all that is similar?
If you can balance a bike, you can balance a scooter.

Scooters and mopeds are very easy to learn, they have automatic transmissions and simple controls. They aren't like a motorcycle where you would have to learn to use a clutch, shift, break correctly, etc.

If you are worried you could start out in a parking lot or back street and you'll figure it out in like 10 minutes, they are pretty forgiving.
