Well....i think it's mainly because of Mana. I'm still not even sure if he's a guy or a girl. I mean i KNOW he's a guy but only because everyone says he is. From all appearances he's a girl. I guess that kind of gender confusion is taking it a little too far from me.

And then there's the whole get-up of the entire band. the clothes, and the make-up, and the NAILS...are really weird :p Other than that, i don't have anything against Malice Mizer....their music's good.

Aryadna- LOVE the pics. Hyde and his guitar are so yum, and Hyde in a car with his guitar is just....*implodes* :-)
 
I just think it's a little strange that a guy would dress so consistently as a girl. If it's just part of the whole visual kei of the band i guess that might be understandable....i don't know if Mana dresses like that out of the public's eye, but if he does, that's what i was calling weird.

For someone so new to jrock in general i think i'm being pretty open-minded, but i don't know, maybe the world's moved on and that kind of thing is commonplace now. Perhaps i'm a little behind in the times ;)
 
Women can wear pants now without people getting up in arms but it wasn't always that way. For a woman to wear pants was down right scandalous back in the day just as much so as men in skirts is today. I don't think gender and personal style have (or should have) anything to do with each other. I think one should be allowed to dress in the clothes they like not the clothes stereotyped to their gender.
And yes, Mana does still dress the way he wants to off stage. I refuse to say he dresses as a woman because I don't think that's fair. If you see a woman in pants, with no makeup, and short hair do you call her a "guy" or say she's "dressing as a guy"? Not typically no, although the phrase "Tom Boy" is still used a lot and in the aforementioned phrases' stead (which, again, I think is unfair). I think it's inequitable that women are allowed more freedom in their fashion sense then men.
You will also find that in Japan gender stereotyping, although it does happen (Oh, LORD, does it!), is very different then in other places of the world.

do you mean it's less prevalent in Japan? That's cool. Look, the way Mana or anyone else dresses is really none of my business, but i reserve the right to think that visual kei can be a little weird.:p

Gender stereotyping is directed more towards women then men in Japan. There are stereotypes for men too but it is WAY too early in the morning right now to be going into any real detail. Put it this way, men are allowed to do whatever the frick they want while women are expected to stay at home to cook, clean, and make babies. Huh, whoops, actually, that's not too different from the west. :p In all seriousness though, it is different. Men have more restrictions this side of the ocean as far as unspoken dress and conduct codes go, at least the Japanese are up front about stereotyping and sexism. :cautious:

I don't know that I'm making much sense. Again, early morning, can't think.
 
Interesting, things are indeed different in Japan compared with where I'm at. Another thing to add, as celebrities they get to test the limits of norms and they'll get away with it since fans love them anyway :P

I think I have become an addict. Not only have I dedicated a whole photobucket to the greatness that is Hyde, but I've hit my 1000 image mark in it. -_- I need to find a new obsession.

By the way, you can attach the pictures after you click "go advanced" and "manage attachments" :D but i don't know if there's a limit to the number or total size of files though...

Are there anymore songs that sound like A drop of colour?

I can't think of any Hyde songs that are really like 'drop of colour'....his 'secret letters' maybe, but with a very french-sounding twist. That's a nice song, try to find it if you haven't heard it. Gackt's song 'ash' is a little like 'drop of colour' actually...that's a good song too! :D
 
Hydeist: Yeah, fast jump... and I still have more that I need to add. I'm such an addict. They need to have a Hydeaholics Anonymous or something. And I think they only allow up to 20 images... :eek: Sucks, but oh well. :-)

Most of the time, we'll get to see pics of Hyde being really cool lookin, but it really cracks me up to see the other (dorky?) side of him... and that really makes him very likable

I had to make a CD Cover for Art Class last year; and this was what I did.
Honestly.. This isn't even worth a B+.... but my teacher gave me an A+..... Hahaha... who's complaining though? 😊​
