What's romantic for you?

I think being romantic is doing small things for your love. It's not about money it's about sweet things, time you spend for your love.

For example, I do not think 50 red roses are romantic, it's a waste of money, your lover has to carry it around, and she can throw it away within a week in a large bag. A better thing would be 1 red rose, and a small letter saying "I love you", or "thanks for being with me", etc.

Another thing is to surprise your love, don't surprise her too much with something she isn't read for though. After 1 week, you will bring her to your parents SURPRISE!!!! Surprise her (if you are longer together), with a tickets for her favorite artist, a picnic (evening would be nicer, bring candles) with sea/city view. or a weekend to another city (can be a bit expensive, but you don't need to stay in a 4 star hotel right).

Send her sweet messages by phone or letters (don't stalk her, though).

So yeah for me, it's about small, cute things and spending time. Just my opinion (feels weird to write these things lol)... so what do you think is romantic?

An unexpected text message that just says "I love you".

The most romantic thing I ever got was the deed for an acre of Mars.

I was wondering who had bought that plot across the plain from where my great-grandparents used to live !

Yes, I agree with you Dutch Baka san, the little things do mean a lot--both ways--and sometimes it can also be jsut a matter of making some kind of change, more in line with your partners wishes or opinions regarding something...another way to say 'I care.'

Whats romantic? It doesn't even have to do anything with a man-woman relationship. For me romantic means: heroism, dedication and loads and loads of other virtues.

Hm, somewhat I consider it romantic, if the tender feelings are somewhat included or switched on, and I even consider some hidings, but accompanied with some sweet hints, to be romantic.
Also if someone does in fact writes a question, if we will still care for each other, our way, accompanied with a wonderfull New Year letter, that tells a fotostory of general loving.

Some Japan related experiences here, please:

Once my girlfriend and me got a surprise, a yellow rose each, from some nice japanese guys (musicians, as it turned out), that we never met before (Have they watched us all the time before??) They asked us to be friends with them, and were very clear about this, because they really did stay friends for pretty long, a few years in fact. Not a love relation thus, but a very honest and fine friendship.
This was my first call to Japan, that I never forget and shaped my view and trust.

Once I was present during a rehearsal of a jazz-concert here, and when a japanese young trumpet player came in, I suddenly had the urge to throw an orange in his direction through the whole room, which he managed to catch, with a big smile, looking into the direction of the thrower. We became friends, of course. It runs under romantic for me.
I am not talking about love, but real good friends, not many words needed. The orange said it all. The following concert was one of the best, that I ever heard in my life.

I also consider it to be romantic, every morning to be surprised with the best cake around, when suffering under a broken shoulder in Japan. Or a visit to a wonderfull applefarm with the best handmade applejuice, that I ever had in my life!

These little carefully folded paper love letters in Korea (there were even more mini-mini-miniature foldings included inside!) and Japan, that I received, I also consider to be very romantic. Nice old idea!

Its the little things very often. . .and they usually make me smile and feel very uplifted.

I agree with Dutch Baka. I think that those small but significant details show how much you care for that person and that you don't take them for granted. What is important is the meaning those little things carry for you and that person!

Romance varies, it depends on the couple. What about some goth couple, romance could be a trip to the cemetary for them. As has been said, it's the intention behind the act. In some cases 50 roses could be seen not as romantic, but as a cop-out. Women (most women anyway) don't like having money thrown at them mindlessly by someone they care about. They'd honestly prefer that one heart-felt rose over 50 heartless ones, as Dutch Baka said.

Just talking or things like holding hands are fine with me.😊
But not many boys want to do that here...

Love is such a relation which is beyond the limitations of wealth . It is just feelings of caring and sharing .
