Haven't seen the korean version, but I hear that it is closer to the book than the Japanese and American remake. Ringu was much better than the American version mainly in the way that the story was driven.Several points come to mind:
1- In the original the video is creepy and looks homemade, or undead made, yet in the remake it looks as if the entire thing was shot on some high quality video editing desk.
2- The video itself is just long enough to creep you out. In the remake it is too long, complex and bores you. If you saw the amercan video you'll probably expect an MTV video and switch it off halfway through.
3- The original had the couple as psychic, which helps to explain who Sadako is. In the remake they missed that point altogether and ended up with a weirdo in the bath explaining things. Why?
4- The people and where they lived look like an ordinary house/apartment. Even the lighting looked natural. It gives you that reality feeling. The remake they seemed to live in places that were above their income to afford, and the lighting of the film was too sharp and defined
5- The end event when Sadako comes out of the TV was where the remake completly failed in my opinion. In the original she moves undead. the actual shot of her dragging herself out of the TV is truely shocking. That scene gave me goosepimples. She looks as if she is really in that room. In the remake she jumps bit by bit and looks unreal, almost if she needs adjusting.
Ringu 2 seemed to lose the plot a little, but I enjoyed Ringu 0. It helped expalin a lot from the first two films. I will watch The Ring 2 as I have read it will be an original plot and not a remake of the original sequel. Plus Hideo Nakata is directing it. Let us hope Hollywood money has ruined his directing ability
