Reformatting Libretto L5

Hi!
I have a Libretto L5 laptop for a while now and I haven't been able to use it for liek 2 years now since it needs to be reformatted but I have no idea how to do it.
Does anyone know how to do this?
The laptop itself doesn't have a internal cd-rom or floppy so I have a external cd-rom.

HI Luc, long time no see.

Will it start up at all and load in windows? Is it Windows XP or ME or using Linux. Probably can do it with DOS commands? Also, if you load in a Windows program disk, I think it will ask you if you want to reformate before it loads the new Windows program in. If you can't get it to start up at all, turning it on while holding down the F8 key may let you into the start-up program so you can use DOS commands on it. A few more details may help you get a better answer then what a non-geek like me can give.

consult your manual or contact Lenovo, there might be a recovery partition on the hard disk you can use to reformat the drive.

If not, get a bootable CD to reinstall windows or whatever, as they have format utilities built into the install program.

Your last option is to remove the hard drive and use another computer to format it. Not advisable if you don't know what you're doing.

Thanks for the replies! I found this website Toys Wiki: Toshiba Libretto
It tells me on how to format it but the problem is you need a certain external cd-rom to boot from it. The one I'm using a Pioneer dvd writer isn't on the lost so it won't boot from the Win cd. I guess I have to go buy one of the cd-roms that it will boot from. What a hassle eh?
