The mammillaria genus of cactii are named after a spanish or italian word for nipple, because instead of vertical ridges the spines reside on like most of cactii, mammillaria spines are on nipple like potrusions on the cactus body.
Also cactii needles are infact just highly adapted leaves!.

Mars has two satellites, Phobos and Deimos (Greek: Fear and Dread), which are probably captured asteroids. They were discovered in 1877 by Asaph Hall.
Unlike our Moon, Phobos and Deimos are not spherical, but potato-shaped. They are only 26 km and 15 km long respectively, compared to the Moon's diameter of 3,474 km.
Their orbits are very close to Mars at 9,378 km and 23,459 km - compared to 384,000 km for our moon. This site Scale Model of the Earth, Moon, Mars, Phobos, Deimos has a scale drawing showing the relative sizes and distances of Mars, Earth and our satellites.

Different subject now, maybe not as interesting as Mars' moons;
NHK in Japan started developing High-Definition television in 1964.
We are still only just beginning to receive it in the UK.
NHK are already working on 'Super High Definition'. Techno nutters!

My favourite author, Philip.K.Dick said he received messages from an outside force called VALIS (Vast Active Living Intelligence System). OK, he was somewhat nuts, but VALIS told him his son had a serious medical condition.
Phil took his son to hospital. The doctors examined him and say there is nothing wrong and there are no symtoms of anything. Phil is not satisfied. They examined him again and find an Inguinal Hernia, from which the boy would have died without an operation. VALIS was right.

Anyway, Jupiter's moon Io (pronounced 'eye-oh') is the most volcanically active object in our solar system. I wonder if it has Onsen.
It's surface is always changing, and I think it looks a little like a pizza.

The largest mountain (and dormant volcano) in the solar system is 'Olympus Mons', on Mars. It is 27 kilometres high, about 3 times the height of Mount Everest above sea level.
And, on a different subject;
Cockroaches can survive for several days with no head. Many of their functions are controlled outside the brain. They just eventually die because they cannot feed. Well rank !

I've loved reading this all !! Thanks folks. Of course, as you all know, I especially enjoyed the Mars info...that's one hell of a volcano to climb too, but you never go all the way up it, it's a hot momma.
I'll find something to post here later, but for now, will simply say that if you habitually almost starve yourself to death, you'll greatly increase the chances of living noticeably longer than average.
