Would you please help me again?

Are the following sentences correct?
1) If I had known you were in hospital, I would have gone to visit you.

2) If you had given him advice, he would not have made such a foolish mistake.

3) What would you do if somebody entered this room with a gun?

4) You might be able to see Mr. White someday if you were in the town.

Are the following translations correct?

5) もし私が忙しくなかったら,彼を家まで車でお送りできるんですがね。
If I were(was) not busy, I could drive him home.

6)もし彼がもっと注意深かったら,けがをしなかったでしょう。(過去の事)(注意深い=careful)
If he had been more careful, he would not have been injured(またはhurt).

7)もし私が彼の電話番号を知っていたら,君に教えるだろう。(teachはダメ)
If I knew his phone number, I would tell you.

8)雨が降っていなければ(→進行形),歩いて家に帰るのですが。 (歩いて家に帰る=walk home)
If it were/was not raining, I would walk home.

9)もしあのときあなたがここにいれば,私たちは彼を説得できたでしょう。 (説得する= persuade)
If you had been here at that time, we could have persuaded him.

10)もし,あなたが今出発すれば,正午までにそこへ着くでしょうけど。([時刻]までに=by [時刻])
If you left now, you would get there by noon.

11)もしあなたが1年間ここに住めば,ネッシー(Nessie)を見られるかも知れないが。
If you lived here for a year, you might be able to see Nessie.

12)もっと英語が上手だったら、いろんなことを(→について)彼女と話せたのに。
If I spoke better English / If I spoke English better, I could have talked with her about various things.

13)あのとき(私の)娘が死んでいなかったら,彼女は今20歳になっている。
If my daughter had not died then, she would be twenty now.

14)もし彼女が日本人なら,彼女はこの手紙が読めたでしょう。
If she were/was Japanese, she could have read this letter.

4. This strikes me as unusual. Possibly "if you are ..." would be more usual, but "in the town" also may not be very idiomatic, depending on the exact circumstances.

6. "careful" is one word.

10. In English, "If you leave now, you will get there by noon" is equally possible (feels more definite, less hypothetical). I couldn't say which sentence corresponds best to the Japanese. Judging the definiteness of 窶堙??堋オ窶堙・窶堋、 is often problematic for me.

11. Similarly, "If you live here for a year ..." is equally possible in English.


In English you need a space before an opening bracket and after a closing bracket. For example, (6) would be spaced like this:

6) 窶堙?窶堋オ窶敕 ...
If he had been more careful, he would not have been injured (窶堙懌?堋ス窶堙紘urt).

Where you have a mixture of Japanese and English I suppose it can get tricky to know what to do with spacing.
