problem with rice cooker

I have used my small (three cup) TIGER rice cooker daily for about three years. It has suddenly begun to malfunction although I am using the same proportions of rice and water as before. Now a good deal of the water bubbles out of the vent; the rice cooks but is very dry. I hate to replace the cooker before I know that there is nothing I can do to help it get back to functioning. Maybe they are not expected to last longer than this? Any advice would be appreciated. Teresa (Northern VA, USA)

Most rice cookers are built so that you may remove the vent and clean the individual pieces. Then you also need to keep the hole on top clean and the seals around the bowl itself. If you are doing all of those things, then the rice cooker should be fine.
