I started watching this series a long time ago, but just recently it's consumed my existance hahahaha. I watch it almost every day now. Anyone else find this series gripping?

I find the story outside the tennis entertaining, but the tennis matches themselves are completely ridiculous. At least in Slam Dunk they kept within the bounds of the physically possible. Also, the whole shock thing every time someone uses their special "waza" was amusing the first time, but it gets more and more annoying. Course, I've only watched up through about 15, perhaps it gets more realistic as time goes on? Not that I'm holding my breath. Oh well. It is fun to watch, as long as I ignore their attempts at making tennis into a martial art.

Oh man, the martial arts tennis is where it's at! Tezuka and his drop shot. Momo with his dunk slam that puts holes in the ground. Ryoma with his left/right hand dual technique, Drive B, and Twist Serve! Hahaha, I am such a dork. But yeah, the series does get A LOT better and the matches are so intese because of the sometimes funny shots that they do with the ball flying across the screen and really extreme music playing. But whatevaaa we all like different things.

Errr.....I thought prince of tennis was cheesy, but I never gave it a chance. I guess I should check it out before I judge. THEN! I will come back and tell you what I think.

An anime about tennis! What will those fun loving Japanese come up with next?

But seriously, there hasn't been much in the way of sports anime, at least what little I've seem and/or heard about, i.e. Princess Nine (baseball), Slam Dunk (basketball) and Shootfighter Tekken (martial arts----I think). Sports could well be the last truly untapped genre left in anime!

You know what we need....PING PONG ANIME!! YES! Bunch of young kids competting against each other in a match. -_- How far do you think they will go? Oh wait, I think they already have an anime that involves pong........

it is pretty

it's not an "anime about tennis" . It's anime and it happens the boys inside love to play tennis (what like you guys have no hobbies ??)

Plus I haven't seen hardcore tennis fans to be interested about this anime , just to proove my point.

Good news for Prince of Tennis fans is that there's gonna be a game reliese for it this winter on PS2 !! Yay yay

Yeah, there is an anime centered around ping pong, but I can't remember the name to save my life! URGH!

OMG, this is soo my thread, lol, how did I miss it? First I think the Ping Pong forum you guys are talking about is the "Ping Pong Club." That's the only one I know anyway.

I agree, I love this series. It has to be HANDS DOWN the best sports anime. It's probably my favorite anime of all time. I have seen 130 episodes, and I am still getting them now. Thanks to this thread for reminding me to go download some! ^_^

15 episodes will not make you love this. It gets good at about 50-70. When you get deep into the story it is much more interesting.

Also, I play tennis for school, and I love tennis. So obviously I would like this anime, ALOT!!! I also love Ping Pong, but that Ping Pong anime sucked, I think.

I have seen one episode of POT and I personally enjoyed it. I haven't seen any since, but it was a good show. I don't watch that much anime, but I would definitly reccomend this show.

bellies ...

I personally think the best thing about it is the much of bellies we could see whenever a player wants to throw a ball ... just too many bellies ..

I don't know if I could get into an anime about tennis. Now if the Williams sisters or Anna Kournikova were animated and found their way onto the show, THEN I'd watch! Yeah, baby, yeah!

i like all the characters..but my favorite would probably have to be Eiji Kikumaru.
