I guess I got the syllable wrong. "Die" should be "shini" not "shin ni."

I guess I made a boo-boo....

You can also use 電車が止まりかけ ている for "the train is stopping," along with

「電車が止まりつつある」、「電車が止まろうとしている」 they just aren't very common in everyday speech.

And there may even be occasion for 「電車が止まるところ」、 or the train is in the middle of stopping. 日本語っていろんな言い方がありますね。 ☝
