Prescription Medications?

If someone had prescriptions for medication from the US, how would you get those in Japan? What if you lived in Japan for a long time, and need Japanese prescriptions? Has anyone had to deal with something like this?

I'd also like to ask how the pricing for prescription medicine works? For example, if you need routine repeat prescription medicine like asthma inhalers, in the UK you pay around £6 for each item on your prescription.

Might not be what your after but ive had to take inhalers both in and out of Japan but i was never pulled for it.
Ive never used a GP in Japan so i cant talk about prescriptions but the prices for over the countee drugs were quite reasonable.

Go to a Japanese doctor. He will sell them to you. Best you have insurance (even then, it will still run quite a bit more than in the US w/ insurance). In fact, it cost me the same in the US w/o insurance for my meds as it did in Japan with insurance.
