Hello
This is my first post here, and I've been planing to take a trip to Japan for many years, I dont even remember what sparked the idea, but I know that I've always wanted to live there.

But I cant decide where exactly to goto, Japan is huge, and every time I try to look online to narrow down the possible vacationing spots, I have no luck.

So here I am, My question is, where would you all suggest a good place to visit is? Some where I can get a feeling for Japan and can further decide if I really truely want to move there.

Just a visit For maybe a week or two? I'd like to see temples and go shopping and of course take a billion pictures 🎈

For a week or two may seem short, but the possibility to enjoy Japan is endless by being creative!

And I am sure you will get many, many replies from members for your questions.

Do you like cities? If you do, Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa(Kantou area), and Osaka(Kansai area) are good places to go shopping, of course depending on what your interests are.
There are actually temples all over Japan, but the famous temples are mostly located in Kyoto and Nara area.

What is your interest for Japan?

If you are limited on what you can do, I would suggest Kyoto. It was the heart of "old" Japan, and such a beautiful city...and so much history! You could see so much of Japan in two weeks!

Kyoto sounds nice and I've looked up some info on it, thanks for narrowing down the selections:)

I'd like to see as much of the history as I can in a week or two, but where do I start in Kyoto?
From what I guess I'll be riding trains alot? I dont have a problem with that at all:)
Whens a good time to visit Kyoto? 🙂

Kyoto was great. My first visit there was last summer. Beware, it is hot and humid in the summer. For non-city sightseeing, I would recommend the Mt. Fuji and Hakone area. Beautiful!

Hi!
I'm Greistal from Italy.

Minnasan konnichiwa!

I'm about leaving for Kyoto in a few days and I'm still wondering what will be the weather there. I'm expecting some cold, but maybe not bitter like in northern Italy where I live. Am I right? :shiver:

Also, is it humid in winter like it is in summer? Does it snow?

Thanks anyone! 🙂

I would expect that Kyoto is pleasant this time of year. You may want to bring a coat. We were in Kyoto during August and it was almost like a steam bath. But everyone on the tour enjoyed the city.

Thank you for the info and the links!

Maybe it's colder than expected... Well, I'll bring the required equip! ☔
