Hi
a friend told us that the big problem in Japan is the pork and it's derivatives,in oil,desert,meals..etc.
He went to a resaurent in Kobe and he requested something from the menu witch contains a piece of pork...he ate it and after that he asked the waiter...lol
Halal restaurants is very rare in Japan,i was thinking what can i do !
should i be Herbal during my stay in Japan :D

How strict ? f you're not required to avoid fish, it should be very easy to find reasonable dishes at non-Western style restaurants. To be safe, explain your situation to the chef in advance.

Sticking to seafood is NEVER a problem in Japan. 😊

you are right,as long as we have fish everywhere in Japan it won't be a problem ^^
thanks God for the sea lol
by the way sorry for the mistake in the subject ( Pork and it's derivatives ).
regards ^^

Where are you going to be ? Look for the Indian/Pakistani restaurants. Kobe even houses a huge mosque so no excuses welcome there...lol

no need for mosques lol it's only food matter ^^

Hi
,in oil,desert,

deserts???

btw, mcdonalds and burger king have stickers - 100% beef

but since this is open, why japanese eat so much pork? I was so surprised when I realised that... all other healthy life, food etc and then pork everywhere!

Not healthy ?? 😲 It's the heart of the Okinawan diet -- the island of pork. 😌

Which explains why in the rest of the country, even Kanto these days, we have beef as a starring role in most meat dishes ! :p

It's really weird that Japanese eat pork so much :?

Hezam: There are Halal restaurants, you just need to look for them. A friend of mine took me to one near Takadanobaba station in Tokyo; it was pretty decent but a little pricier than the non-halal restaurants in the area (tons of Indian places around there, as it's located near the Indian embassy).

Stay away from Ramen, as I believe the broth contains pork, not to mention Cha-siu. Cheers!

If I am asked, "What is the pig which is the most delicious in Japan?"
I answer with a "Kuro buta(pig)" of Kagoshima.
Kyusyu Railway Company CM Manami Konishi

By the way,
President Obama seems to have requested
" I want to eat Kobe Beef and a tuna" to Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Probably I think that his request is granted today.

Just stick to fish. I would. I don't like pork myself, so I would also avoid it. Now lamb is a different matter. Do they do much in the way of lamb dishes in Japan?

The Japanese representative lamb cooking is Jingisukan.
It is a specialty of Hokkaido .
Jingisukan is a dish to bake on an iron plate with vegetables.
An iron plate is a characteristic.

Soba/udon noodles in soup are dashi based seasoned with soy sauce, mirin etc., if alcohol that MAY NOT evaporate fully when cooked or is produced by a process of bean fermentation (eg miso soup) would also be considered non halal.

Just don't forget not to drink, though, when someone pours you a glass...😌

There are many nice Turkish restaurants in Tokyo.
You can ask them if all the dishes are halal (as sometime not all of them are so.)
There's a very nice very near to our office, I and my colleague go there at least once a week for lunch. :)
As other posters mentioned, there are many Indian restaurants, many of them are offering vegetarian dishes, so that's very "safe" for you.

In our office we often customers who are Muslim, and we often invite them for dinner at Japanese/Italian/Turkish/Tunisian/Indian restaurants as it is not difficult to avoid pork/meat at these places.

Fast food such as McDonald's should be avoided as they sometimes use lard for fried potatoes.

I am really happy to hear about your kindness and the way you deal with some special people,it may bother some poeple like my friend said :
A Japanese person was eating pork in the same table, and when he knew that i am Muslim he stood up and apologized,do you know why? he thought the pig is a holy animal to Muslims :D:D

Hahaha... it's funny! Obviously the person misunderstood the reason Muslim people avoid pork for the reason Hindu people do not eat beef... :D:D
