Police suspect he committed at least 15 traffic violations, including speeding, running red lights and swerving into oncoming traffic. The joyride ended after about 10 kilometers when he lost control and struck a utility pole. A female acquaintance in the passenger seat suffered a fractured sternum. Responding officers were surprised to find the crashed vehicle was an elaborate replica of an unmarked police car. The driver told them, "I had a friend modify it for me." This prompted a wider investigation that led police to the friend, a 22-year-old male office worker. The friend was arrested on May 19 on suspicion of violating the Road Transport Vehicle Law for making the illegal modifications.
