personalizing search parameters?

I browse the site using the "new posts" button to see what threads are active...

I'm just wondering if there's a way to exclude the J-pop forum from the search results? Frankly, I really don't care for the quality of the conversations that go on in there, and I'd rather not have my search results gummed up by a huge list of results from that part of the site?

try altering what you search for, and go for specific forums it will take longer but will come out better,

YES! nice gaijin, do you know how long I've wished for the "New Posts" search to exclude J-Pop?! Gosh, it irks me when I hit that and there's a whole page of results, but all of them are in the J-Pop section, all of which have replies like "OMG he's hott!!!" or "he's so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!" or "he needs to be mine!!!!!!!!!!!" with lots of smilies, lots of virtual actions, and huge pictures.

Whew...venting over.

thank god you feel that way too! I was afraid of being rude but it's been driving me nuts the past few days. they're really prolific over there.

I'm with you guys there, but it seems kind of complicated to add that option to the search engine.

Yeah, it seems almost impossible, but it sure would be nice. I guess I'll just dream about it...

Actually, I have thought about this for a long time too. Ideally, I'd like to define the default categories of the newposts in the UserCP, so that people who are not interested in some categories or do not speak this or that language do not get results for those categories. But it's very difficult to implement. If there are some programmers that know vBulletin well here, they are welcome to propose a solution.

just wanted to revive this for a quick rant...

I did another newpost search (as usual) and almost all of the hits were in the J-Pop forum... I am so disinterested in vapid celebrity worship i'm tempted to start interesting threads of my own just to push those damned J-Pop results down the list!

Add me to the list of people who don't care so much about new posts in the JPop section. Ehhhh, that can get annoying at times. Oh well, this is still a great forum
