Dear native English speakers
I have to teach the passive voice to the 10th graders.
Would you check my sentences in the passive voice?

2 (a) My life was changed by this book.
2 (b) My life has been changed by this book.

3 A lot of pictures/photos are taken at this beautiful spot.

4 This tree was planted by my grandfather thirty years ago.

5 Was your bike stolen yesterday morning? Yes, it was.

6 These dictionaries are used by students.

7 Were these pictures painted by Tom's grandfather? Yes, they were.

8 Is English taught all over Japan? Yes, it is.

9 Kumamoto was hit by big earthquakes in April last year.

10 Was this house built about thirty years ago?

11 This postcard was sent from London last month.

12 Japan is often hit by big/large typhoons.

13 Is this book read by many people?

14 This letter was written by my grandfather twenty years ago.

15 The cute girl is loved by everyone/everybody.

16 I am often laughed at by my classmates.

17 I'm not invited to the party.

18(a) This little temple is not visited by many tourists.
18(b) This little temple is not visited by a lot of tourists.

19(a) That movie was seen/watched by many people.
19(b) That movie was seen/watched by a lot of people.

20(a) The boy is given ten dollars every week.
20(b) Ten dollars are given to the boy every week.

Thanks in advance.

They all look good.
BTW don't you already have many examples accumulated over the years? Or are you just trying to challenge yourself by creating new ones for each class?

All perfectly written, but 2b isn't passive voice, it's past participle. (I had to look that term up.) It's a very slightly different meaning.

Specifically, the passive voice is formed using the past participle. Both 2(a) and 2(b) use the past participle of the verb "change."

Thank you for your help, mdchachi, Julimaruchan, joadbres, and lanthas.

I think that if a sentence includes the pattern "be + past particle", it is called "the passive voice." So 2b is also a passive sentence.

I have to teach more advanced passive sentences tomorrow. I'll post another request later.
