Optimal usage of time when learning

My life has lots and lots of leaning involved. I'm a developer, a speedsolver (I learned to solve a 3x3 rubik's cube in less than 20seconds average in less than a year with 100+ algs learned) I taught myself english (still learning... I make some dumb mistakes from time to time) and I'm learning japanese atm

I'm mostly using duolingo and an online portuguese/japanese course my sister bought. I like to spend 20min to 1 hour studying japanese every day

But sometimes I find myself using my time unoptimally. What can I do to feel like I'm using my time wisely? I want to feel like I'll take those minutes or 1 hour and just sit and learn for that time.

What do you guys think about that? About using time wisely. I'd love to hear your ideas. I want to apply it to other areas too like speedcubing (I have plateaud on it for years)

Yes I learned japanese writing system in 2009 (using iknow when it was still free, excelent tool) when I started studying and I still remember it as of today. I stopped and started learning japanese since that time but I'm studying it seriously for the last 6 months, mostly using the tools I mentioned. I watch some youtube videos too like japanese ammo with misa, I love her... and faleemjapones, a brazillian channel. very good too

I think of doing classes with a friend of mine via internet. She lives in a nearby city and she is native japanese, came to my country when she was a kid. But I want to develop my skills a bit more before I start with the classes

My writing and reading are better than my speaking and listening atm

It sounds like you are not familiar with the idea of language exchange. Would you like people on this forum to explain how it works?
