I just recently began my studies in Japanese on/off (mostly off for now due to midterms). I was wondering what type of education is possible for beginner status learners of japanese?
I'd really love to study in Japan but cant really afford it (I know, its been said before xD Sorry) Im currently in my third year of approaching my BA and I expect to get my BA by next year (hopefully) in Linguistics & Rhetoric. At first I was considering teaching English in Japan so I can afford living in Japan during my studies and also helping others persue their language learning experience.
But i was wondering if there were any other options? Like scholarships? I considered MEXT until I saw you needed to have a strong command of the language. Im not sure if i would be up to par within a year having never studied japanese formally (just self-study. I took a class in japanese and it was really really easy and a total waste of money so im really turned off by that option). Would it be better for me to try and study in Japan now without getting my BA?
I also read about Jet. Does Jet give an allowance for studying japanese or will this be money mostly from your pocket?

Sorry If this seems too in-the-future. I start to think about things I'd love to do when I have a lot of un-fun things like tests to do hehe.
