Okimono signature

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out if the sculptur of this okimono is anyone special. It's about 17" tall, and the sculpt is a fisherman using cormorants instead of a fishing pole to get his catch. Is this a common artist? It looks Japanese, and Meji, but the chop looks more Chinese than Japanese. Kangi? Thx. Dennis

The red writing is two characters. The left one is 松 which is read まつ or "Matsu". It could also possibly be read "Shou", but that is much less common. Sadly, I am at a loss for the character on the right.

Here is a similar item with the name of Tamadō (玉堂).

May be related to Matsudō (master/apprentice relationship, or just both working in the same shop?)
