One of their items is a richly flavoured ice cream made with ingredients from northern Japan's Hokkaido, starting at 680 yen (about $4.60), tax included. Customers of all ages, from young people to those in their 50s, often drop by, sometimes queuing to buy the desserts. The business reportedly plans to open a third location within metropolitan Tokyo soon. Mayonaka Farm was inspired by a trend in Hokkaido's capital, Sapporo, of eating parfaits after drinking. A representative of the chain's operating company, Tokyo-based Otonomics, said, "We're happy we answered consumer demand for a nice scoop of ice cream after sightseeing or dining, which had not been offered by any shops in the areas where we opened. We hope to help establish a 'night ice cream' trend on the same level as in Sapporo."
