NHK TV Show

Have any of you seen the NHK documentary TV show about the dude that travels accross Japan only on local trains and then sketches scenes of his travels in a sketchbook? He also goes to England in a different season, I believe.

Any info appreciated.

Yes, there was a documentary series just like you said. The traveller is actor Tomohiro Sekiguchi, and the title of the series is 窶氾ｱ窶懌?｡ﾂ縦窶冉 窶彜窶慊ｹ窶堙娯?板ｷ (Retto-judan Tetsudo no Tabi, or Railroad Travel across Japan).

The first series was in 2004, followed by two more series in spring and autumn 2005.
The European series featured Germany (2005), UK, Spain, Greece/Turkey & Switzerland (2006)

There are books and DVDs on his travels on sale (most likely from NHK).
