Need a digital camera, I'm stuck here

So my dad wants to buy a me a digital camera for my trip and we are gonna look around the next couple of days.

So, thing is, which one do oyou have or would like to have, one that is in a moderate price and is a pretty good deal.

I thing canon have great cameras, ixux and powershot.

Wish I had known.

I'd look for one that takes common batteries that are easy to find and less expensive. Also the Memory card is important. They don't make any big memory cards for my Olympus, which is a pain.Look for one that has a good selection of memory cards that are easy to find and less expensive. The other thing that was important to me was a good telephoto lens. At least a 10X optical(not digital) makes it great for being able to do more.

Pentax K100D digital SLR. Very expandable, excellent images, economical, and the prices are reportedly dropping even farther since a new enhanced "Super" version is being released soon. Skip the "Super" and grab the savings on one of the regular models.

I bought the Camedia C-720 and so far the 128MB card is all I can find for it. At high quality , I only get 70 pics and I take that many in an hour or less. I have 7 cards now I take with it.

Well don't buy a Canon They got some bad service !!

I really wouldn't recommend that !! They are empty in a quite short time period wile Accu's last longer and have a longer time span !

I have a Panasonic my self but the most Panasonics are for people who like to get a little more out of there camera's (I have one with special options and all )

I have a Canon Powershot A95 and love it. It's small and packable, which is important when going on trips, also very easy to use. It takes amazing pictures.

It has a great zoom, has an option to set the shutter speed, ISO speed, white balance, apature value manually, and you can take 1~3 minutes movies with it.

I'm having so much fun with this neat little camera!

Thanks y'all. me and my dad already figured it out. We are deciding (it's for me, but he'll pay for it). He wanted to get me either a Canon or Olympus. He says those are great cameras and are not too expensive.

I will either buy an OLYMPUS Stylus 740 Digital 7.1 MP 5x or another one that is pretty much the same but instead of a 5x optical zoom, I'll get 3x.

They both cost the same since I found the 5x one through the internet, but my dad wants to buy me the latter one for tax-deductibility reasons, so I want to convince him to buy me the better one. I'll do my best and try to succeed, haha.

Well I have a Olympus digital camera and a Cannon dvd-camcorder so I cant advise you one way or the other. Except you will find using Olympus Camedia (the software that comes with the camera) a bit of a letdown. I reccomend that you self export and store any pictures you take.
