Japanese workbook

What if an elementary student completed their workbook in the first week of school, what would his teacher be likely to do?

For math homework- they have all the answers at the back of the textbook at least for 1st grade. My son could have done it all anyway but for the teacher's awful teaching which sent him backwards to counting with fingers and confusion.

I feel bad for your son if the teachers are being unreasonably strict and rigid with him, but judging from your posts here you always seem to want to paint the Japanese educational system in the worst possible light.

I really don't mean any offense by this, but you've admitted in the past that you are at a pre-N5 level of Japanese comprehension, so I think you have to admit that -- at least to some degree -- certain problems might be the result of your inability to fully comprehend or communicate in natural Japanese.

Again, I'm not saying this to attack you, but you have to at least understand to some degree that if you can't communicate fully with the people around you (including your son's teachers) miscommunication problems are more likely to occur. This isn't your fault, but it isn't really entirely 100% your son's Japanese teachers' fault either.

I passed N5 and a lot higher level with kanji words. I don't feel the teachers are just unresonably strict and rigid with him rather their teaching methods are not very sophiscated with focus on teaching children what they don't know. His mother hold blame for not bothering enough with reading him Japanese and be actively opposed to a structured home life. His mother (who is Japanese) says he could do his maths before his teacher pushed her Sakura Maths method. His mother "talks" with the teacher far more often than other parent. It is dumb that the maths and Japanese elementary school textbooks all include the answers at the back. Teacher communication is primitive with writing in communication book or by telephone and the teacher ignores her set times- trying to call her when she is at work. For me there should a lot more kanji application.

P.S. You may be under a different impression, but JLPT level N5 is not some impressive achievement. Maybe it's impressive for someone who's been studying the language for a couple of months, but if you're living your life in Japan, it's literally barely communicative.

I'm not saying that invalidates your opinions, but if your own Japanese speaking/comprehension level is barely that of an early grade-schooler, then maybe you're not the most qualified person to critique the entire Japanese educational system and throw blame at literally every Japanese person around you, but absolutely zero at yourself. (In past posts of yours, you've implied that Japanese people are ignorant while yourself demonstrating an inability to use even simple Japanese verb conjugations, so forgive me if I doubt that you're having enlightened conversations with anyone in Japanese about your son's education).

But hey, if your pedagogical knowledge is so superior to your son's teachers / your wife / literally every Japanese person in existence, then maybe you should just teach your child everything so he can be an enlightened genius like you.

I am teacher- teaching is teaching no matter the language. N5 is totally different from Elementary school education and child speaking so there is no comparison possible- they learn totally different stuff. That Japanese teachers are wedded to the textbooks (and possibly other primary school teachers in other countries as I feel my mother is a former primary school teacher) is a problem- it is a resource only not a bible from God- the teacher insisted he complete every single page of his textbooks.

As far Japanese, my wife thought his grammatical/comprehension work was far too high a level for a first grader. He however couldn't remember his kanji compound word for the review exercise at the start of grade 2. I am sure he hasn't throughly learned kanji compounds like tsuitachi. They should have included review exercises for the holidays -not easy to find good ones. Japanese ordering of kanji in textbooks is all over the place like they do 記 before 言 the maths is similar somewhat disorganised. Easy stuff times by 0 and 1 are at the end. My son pointed out to me how it is ridiculous that they don't learn 止 in first grade given its incredible importance in stop signs.

By the way, my wife said the teacher would be angry at him for doing more the assigned homework. I do not know how the teacher seriously. All I had told my son was since you do not like doing your homework do the book except for the homework. He was not doing his homework. I can not make an apostraphe with this keyboard.
