this was actually the first anime i ever watched. (second was kiki's delivery service ^^)
has anyone else seen this movie?

i was looking at some information about it and was pleasantly surprised at how high of a rating it had here in the usa.
 
My friend has it and I was gonna watch it but never got around to it. Yea from what I hear it is very popular in the US. It's in almost every store that sells DVDs where I live. I'm just to lazy/forgetful to watch it.

I like it too... one of my Japanese professors who isn't exactly a huge Miyazaki fan sometimes makes fun of me for liking it, but I think it's fun to watch and the character designs (particularly Totoro and his friends) are cute, and the bus stop scene is simply cuteness overload. The music is great too. I mean, sure it's defintitely not the most meaningful anime ever, but I think it's cute and fun to watch, that's all.

But that's all I remember, except the mother was sick...
It wasn't my first anime, but it sure was my son's first, when he was 1 or 2.
I think it helped him grow in a healthy wasy...nice to share with someone!
I need to watch it again sometime...the title has a nice ring to it now.
 
I personally think it's the best Miyazaki Hayao anime. It is about childhood, imagination and nature. It is set in old Japan (the postwar years), when I was a kid. The story reminds me so much of my childhood... I was probably the baby sister's age.
 
I love Miyazaki films ^^ Totoro was on tv a couple of years ago but I was stupid and forgot to watch it u_u
 
This movie is one of the most famous around the world.

When I went to the Ghibli museam I felt a lot of focus over Tonari no Tottoro. A movie scene was even scheduled for it at that day.

Then there was this big huge wonderful almost life-size neko bus !! It was a kid's play area. I was not allowed to enter as much as I hardly wanted to play ..



ahhh... I wish I could be a child again ....
 
I also love My Neighbour Totoro, and it is definately one of the sweetest anime I have seen! I love the cat bus and also the Totoro, the hugable character!!! I wish I had a friend like Totoro!!
 
I love "TONARINO TOTORO".
Grandmother of a movie reminds of my grandmother.
My grandmother fetched vegetables of a field in the summer.

I haven't seen that movie in years! Although..I think i was scared when i first watched it, it was over five years ago I believe, c'mon..the thought of a fat grey cat that flys is kind of scary! (at least..I think he flies) But maybe I should watch it again.
 
i have to say i loved the dust bunnies the most.
and how you had to scream REALLY loud to get rid of them.

..they were so cute. ;D
 
Heh...Dust Bunnies...That's awesome, I should rent it again then! I'm actually a big fan of Studio Ghibili...I probably would like seeing how I'm older.
 
$4's?! Wow, what a great steal! yeah...I should try n' buy mt anime off the net...But mom is over-protective of her protected card number n' not willing to do that.
 
That must have been the first anime I watched.. I don't think I even knew what an anime was, I must have been like.. 5 or something. I liked it a lot, but the big giant bunny scared me.
 
I love Totoro! It's also one of the first anime I've watched. I can't even remember the first time I watched it. I also love Laputa and Nausicaa. ^^

Yes, My neighbor totoro is one of the 10 best Anime movies I've ever seen.
