We stayed at Montonago ryokan for two nights at the end of December. They used our credit card to pay for our accommodation. Later we found that they had deducted another $200 from our credit card at a time when we were not even staying at the place. This action is obscene and we would like our money back. Is there any action we can take for our money to be refunded. This place is so corrupt and is not even worth the amount of money we paid to stay at the place. The rooms were small and cramped, the place was dirty and the futon was so uncomfortable we did not get a good night's sleep.

Call you credit card company and dispute the charges. That is how it is done.
The credit card company will normally do a charge back on the amount and then investigate. If the ryokan proves they provided service, the card company will put the charge back on your account. If the ryokan can't provide the proof of service the charge will stay removed.

I agree with Akakubisan, go through your credit card company.

Motonago fraud

Thanks for your response. We have certainly made a report with the credit card company and hope that it can be resolved soon. It's very distressing having $200 extracted from our account for no reason.
