MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2011: General Discussions.

the facebook group is for 2010. and many members are not even mext scholars in that list. phew...i will start a new group...just waiting for the embassy to break the news!

There are 2 facebook groups for MEXT scholars. One for 2010 and another for 2011. The one I linked to was the 2011 group =) Like destiny2, I just joined too.

Again, all the best to those who are still waiting for the results of the 2nd screening. Congrats to those who passed! And for those who will be trying this year, keep fighting on!

Hi everyone, I just receive a letter from Keio university informing me that they are expecting me by 03.04 but still nothing from the embassy. I guess it still good news but if this scholarship taught me anything it is that nothing is certain. Good luck to everyone

I just got the pledge as well...I guess I ll see u guys in Japan in few weeks!

p.s. Hiroshima friens, can we exchange email adresses?

Hi Hiroshima prospectives, This morning I got an email notifying me that I got placed into the international dorms room A1002 so don't be scared to stop by

Mounir I will PM u my email.

I'm still waiting too. Despite HAL88 had already got the final answer, I didn't received anything. We have 6 Japan Consulates in Brazil; as far as I know none of the others consulates contacted the students until now.

I'm very worried because I'm in the same situation as HAL88: I sent the graduation certificate this month (the consulate just said that we had to send it before march), I didn't received any news about the dorms, and (it gets worse!) I have just ONE advisor/university.

Does someone from america have good news?

Apparently for Bulgaria there is a reason for the delay. The embassy coordinator (I think....) is not well. There was a mentioning for the end of the week, maybe...

Geez. Ok, please let us know if you get notified, I'll do the same.

Well, that's a reasonable hypothesis. Today I received an e-mail from my academic advisor in which he said they were extremely surprised to know that many applicants who were clearly accepted by the universities were ultimately not allowed to go to Japan. Also, he said that the reason for such issue must be somehow connected, again, to the reduction in MEXT scholarships due to the budgetary cut, and informed that even themselves were yet waiting further detail from MEXT and Foreign Ministry about the selection that took place regarding this situation.

Besides clarifying that my denial most likely did not occur due to my performance or documents (a relief, actually), he also stated that we should all expect the selective process to become stricter from now on.

Well, it sure lightens up many things, since, apparently, it had nothing to do with the applicants, embassies, universities or advisors, but with the procedures which took place inside MEXT regarding the new budget policy that was planned by japanese government. Confidential stuff, I guess.

That being the case, well, bad luck.

Not willing to be a buzz killer here, of course xD, but I'd like to know if anyone else failed to succeed in this same manner as well. I believe that when receiving such an unexpected result (yes, a hell of a sneak attack, I might add) people would just stop wandering around the forum in grief, but if there is someone like me out there, please let's desperate together, haha. And, of course, start our plans of revenge for 2012.

Anyone gets a place at University of Tsukuba? I am expected to be assigned to University of Tsukuba. If so, kindly keep contacting.

@ Savonging
Hi Savonging, you are going to Tsukuba Daigaku ? me too thats nice. Well here in my country we havent recieved any piece of news yet. What I know so far is that in Tsukuba Daigaku ppl from the Ryugakusei center (international students center) has no news yet from MEXT. Are u wondering about dorm? dont worry! newcomers always have priority to pick where, I suggest you to pick Ichinoya dorms if they ask u. It s the best dorm there.
Nice too meet Tsukubians !

@gcarmelino:
Thank so you so much. Please to know u too!
I have checked with my professor last month. He said that I was assigned to Tsukuba Daigaku. But up till now, The embassy does not inform me which university I am going to yet. What about you? Embassy in Your Country already informs you about that or not? Anyways, if my professor knows about that, the Ryugakusei center (international students center) should have known that too. That makes me feel a bit strange then.
Related to Dorm, I think university should have informed us something so that we feel secure. cos in Cambodia, all candidates already get a contanct from university except me.
Anyways, have you got yahoo or gmail? Kindly Keep in Contact.

@savonging
Well you are lucky to know that from your professor, mine doesnt know anything yet since last email she sent me. I think information change depending on countries and thats what informs to our professors despite they belong to same university. But what im sure about is the Ryugakusei Center doesnt have a final word yet till last friday, cause some friends of mine are studying there and asked.
About resindence they solve that problem very soon believe me and newcomers has priority.
One of my friends who is studying there, told me she was informed on february 23th in 2009 and tomorrow for me is 23th ! haha so i hope date matches.
I ll pm you my gmail contact.

btw whats ur major? mine is Architecture

I called my embassy and they said that they didn't receive anything yet :-(

Me too. Yay! Going to sign the pledge tomorrow.
All 8 people who passed the December secondary screening are in, so there's no reduction here.

Hi all,
Yesterday, I received an email from embassy telling me that i have been chosen by MEXT but they haven't got a universtiy for me yet. They asked me to wait another list for october entry.

Hello, Tsukubians!!!

I'm going to University of Tsukuba too!!! I received the message from the Japanese Consulate in Rio two days ago! Which dormitory are you going to choose? I heard horrible things and saw scary movies on youtube about dorms there, but apparently 2 of the 4 options are 改善中. I haven't spoken to my advisor since acceptance letter. Also haven't received anything from Ryuugakuseika, but I will arrive in october!

@alinerj AND THOSE GO TO TSUKUBA

i got confirmation from embassy yesterday that I am going to Tsukuba on the 1st week of April. and Embassy asks me to contact International Student Office directly about dorm. I already contact and get answer. They said they will send information about dorm to international students at Mid of March. They told me that we do not have to do anything cos they will prepare everything for u!
