Hello everybody, I told you that I was going to tell you the news right away, so here I go:
I have just recieved a mail from the lady from the embassy that informed me that I am an alternate, again.
As you know, the odds of me finally recieving the scholarship are very very slim.
Still, I am asked to confirm if I still want to be an alternate or not. I don't know what to do. I've come so far, that my heart says "just hang in a little more" but I am so devastated that I don't know if I can still manage some future dissapointments. My family and boyfriend don't want me to go over this again, I am usually a very cheerful and happy but this things really turn me into other person, not even a person, a shadow.
This is not the post I wanted to write but is the sad true.
I wish the best in your life to all of you, you have been the most amazing people I have ever known online, with all your support... god I wish I could know you in real life.
For all of you finally going to Japan, enjoy it for me too.
Live your dream.
I can't write anymore sorry

I'm sorry to hear that ykk. I really hate to see this happening and I realy hoped that you could come to Japan to offer us a good treat of some roasted meat from your own country that you have promised!Hello everybody, I told you that I was going to tell you the news right away, so here I go:

Oh my God, this was unexpected at all, I agree with you Ahmed. However, I am really disappointed, there is no other options, please ykk try again you may get and the chance will recopy the previous bad situations. Ahemd I would like to say to you that, I called one of the regular candidate however, he had a mission from the government, he will no take it and take MEXT scholarship. I was sending a massage for him to tell me if you have any news from the embassy to tell me directly. He did not answer me, when I called him for congratulation, he answered me with cold blood, and I told him I will never ask you to do anything for me I called for congratulation. Damn for such person.I wish not meet him again. However he is from mansoura but really, he does not belong to them at alllllykk,
I am so sorry for you. I am really convinced that you are the most suitable person for this scholarship. I don't know how they (embassy staff) could take such unfair decisions.
In such situations, I always tell myself (This is God's choice, and there is nothing better than God's choice). We don't know what future prepares for us. You may have better chances in other directions.
I hope you overcome such disappointing condition, and try to forget the past and look for the future.
All the best.
I'll be joining Kyoto U as well and now I'm also filling the form for the apartment. Where you from and do you have msn messenger or email?I'm a Monbukagakusho student who'll be attending Kyoto University. I'm trying to choose accomodation at the moment. Does anyone know anyone who's gone to Shugakuin? I'm used to living in a rabbit hutch in Tokyo but the rooms look ridiculously small...
Are they new/clean? I can't find any photos of them yet.
At the moment I'm seriously considering staying in a private apartment, then I'd be able to keep all my stuff at least.
who decides when I'm going there?
Both me and the prof selected that i should be there by 1st of April
In fact, they're insisting much on that
So, is it the Ministry's decision at the end?
Thank you for the advicefollow you professor. inform the ministry about your professor's plan. everything you'll do in Japan will depend on your professor. if you research about Japanese culture, you know what i'm talking.
I've just had the reply from the professor, and the news are wonderful!
He said that I MUST be in the university before 1st of April
A Japanese traveling agency will call me and arrange my arrival from my country of residence to the door of the university, meanwhile the accommodation will be fully prepared
The friendliness of the people there is really overwhelming me that I'm ready to donate all my works in the next 6 years without asking for any recognition, seriously!!
Hey guys and girls,
Hope you all had some fantastic holidays with your friends and family!
I wrote an email to my supervisor at todai if he already knows if mext will send me there and he answered me 'you will belong to our lab. don't worry about it. bla bla bla we are looking forward in meeting you in april'. So I guess I will be sent to todai?!
Now I am super happy and super scared at once! I don't know any japanese yet! and I am entering the PhD course directly. So I will be over there for 3.5 years. This is sooo far away from home and such a long time...
How are you people doing and what are you thinking- am I the only one here who is scared?
Does anyone know when the Japanese language course starts in April and when we are going to fly over to Japan? I can't stand the waiting anymore!
Plus- will we be able to fly home in holidays?
Is there anyone else who is going to todai?
Thanks a lot for your answers in advance!

Believe him. You will be get the MEXT scholarship and will be in Todai this year. Congratulations!

Get some self-study books and learn the basics. If your program is non-English, then enroll in the intensive Nihongo course at Todai because you need it. When they say intensive, it is really intensive.

Being scared means you are alive. Don't worry, there are lots of international students in Todai. It is up to you if you can make friends.

Depending on your professor and your laboratory activities, you can fly home at your own expense.
Is there anyone else who is going to todai?
