Did you just find out he died ?

no. i found out the day after he died. He died on April 1, 2003

Yeah, I had discovered him because of Inner Senses. A customer of mine had gone into great detail about who he was, explaining that he was very famous and that he was extrememly popular overseas. Then she said that he had commited suicide on April 1st, 2003. She said that there were many speculations concerning his death, ranging from that he was having troubles with his lover, a man he had been with for a very long time, to his growing depression due to the movie Inner Senses.. something he was never able to shake off.

Whatever the reason, it is a shame that someone so talented was unable to keep their personal demons at bay and realise that tomorrow would bring about a better day.

He will be sorely missed, I am sure.

Peace.

Ant

Yes, he was a great actor. The spooky thing is that his last film was Inner Senses, in which he plays a character who has a depression, and in one scene, he is on top of the roof....some lines can be drawn from the film to his real life...just sad.

yikes he's passed on?! i remember this guy from A Chinese Ghost Story.

yeah..

i find it humorously ironic that in so many of the movies he starred in, he was either a pimp or ladykiller of sorts, and only after watching many, did i find out he was homosexual. Quite a surprise. Actually, now that i think of it, some of his other movies should have given me a clue, like "Happy Together", "Farewell My Concubine", "He's a woman, she's a man". Yeah, i'm just really dense.

Lesile Cheung was a bi-sexual. I saw his concert at Atlantic City in 1997. It was such a small concert for American-Chinese. I had seen other H.K. artisits' concerts in the States before. Usually they didn't take it very seriously because it was just for "China Town people."

However, Lesile Cheung was a serious performer. He danced a lot and changed numerous costumes during the show. Hmmm... I think he had high standards for himself.

A perfectionist and a bi-sexual in a Chinese society. I wasn't surprised when I found out he had committed suicide.
