Good after noon, This is my first visit as a new member. I was stationed at Misawa AB beginning in 1956. I am married to a Japanese woman who was born Harbin, China. I have had a deep cultural interest in Japan for many years. I am particularly interested the Heian era and prior. This is my reason for joing the Forum in the hope of contacting those with a mutual interest in this period of Japanese history. I am independently motivated and possess no formal education on the subject, perhaps that has been my reluctance to initiate such a request. At any rate I prefer entering into a correspondance dialogue, rather than participating in chat rooms, which to me requires a much quicker wit than I possess. I look forward to finding those who may be similarly motivated.

Hi Larry ! Welcome To The Forum !!

I'm sure you might find a few scholars here with your interest. We may have to award you the oldest of the old guys award; you have me beat by a few years. Glad you found the Forum, hopefully others with your interests will find you!

Frank

Hi Frank, Wow, I am impressed at the quick response. I'm trying to familiarize myself with both forum, format, and in eventually participating. Look forward to the process.

Hello, Larry!
It's amzaing you have such stories to tell.
Do visit often, and leave your wise thoughts for the green youths just budding out of the ground. (like me, a little old bud)
I know there are at least several people who are highly into history, more out of love for the learning of history itself than as a profession.
I'm sure you will have fun in this very diverse community.
So yes, it's quite nice to have you.
And please ask your wife to join in too if she wants. 🎈 🎈

Despite my age (kojiki san) and your kind remarks I lack a quick wit. So I must withdrawal and rethink this telling (monogatari)
